Sunset Junction is located in the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles, California. In 1967, Sunset Junction was the site of the Black Cat Tavern protest, one of the first actions in the nation against police harassment of patrons in gay bars (more than two years before the Stonewall riots in New York). Today, Silver Lake continues to be an LGBT-friendly neighborhood with several long-standing venues, and Sunset Junction is the hub of this very artistic community.
