Ingrained – Yukata Wagara #1, 2024
Charcoal, graphite, acrylic on paper
14" × 20"
A yukata is a lightweight cotton garment worn casually in summer, a softer, more casual expression of Japanese tradition than the formal kimono. This pattern comes from a yukata given to the artist by her parents when she was a high school student. The floral vine pattern is layered in front of the figure like a transparent cage.
